Security stepped up ahead of poll

Jamshedpur :The administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth and incident free polling to the Assembly elections on December 2.

Apart from the high profile security arrangements the district administration has taken up slew of measures to ensure electorate are not lured by the political parties to sell their votes.

Personnel were airlifted to Maoist affected areas in Jamshedpur parliamentary constituency as the East Singhbhum district administration geared up with slew of measures to ensure free and fair poll on Tuesday.

Jamshedpur West,
Seraikella (ST), Chaibasa (ST), Majhgaon (ST), Jaganathpur (ST), Manoharpur (ST), Chakradharpur (ST), Kharsawan (ST),
Tamar (ST),
Torpa (ST),
Khunti (ST),
Mandar (ST), Sisai (ST), Simdega (ST), Kolebira (ST).
East Singhbhum deputy commissioner-cum-returning officer for Jamshedpur parliamentary constituency, Amitabh Kaushal said that sensitive and super sensitive booths have been identified in the Assembly areas and security personnel would be deployed accordingly. ďWe are confident that the elections will be free and fair and we have finalised every details for the poll,Ē he noted.

Meanwhile, following directive of election commission the administration would be introducing webcasting through tablets at highly sensitive booths and also carry out recording through videography. There are 110 highly sensitive booths in the constituency.

Meanwhile, 800 police force of the district will be assisted by jawans of CRPF, Jharkhand Armed Police, homeguards, Rapid Action Police (RAP) and Rapid Action Force for maintaining security at the 1626 polling booths in the constituency.

In addition to this, micro observers have been deputed at polling stations to keep an eye on every movement of the polling agents and on the suspicious characters, if any, at the naxal infested booths and also at urban area booths which are vulnerable from the law and order point of view.

For six Assembly seats in the district 75 candidates are left in the poll fray. A total of 1617400 voters will decide the fate of these candidates. A total of candidates withdrew nomination.

After the scrutiny nine candidates from Bahragora, 11 Ghatshila, 12 each from Potka and Jugsalai, 14 from Jamshedpur East and 15 candidates from Jamshedpur West.

A total of 1630 polling booths will be set up for the voting comprising 225 at Bahragora, 252 at Ghatshila, 279 at Potka, 318 at Jugsalai, 264 at Jamshedpur East and 292 at Jamshedpur West.

Moreover, 7784 polling personnel will be involved in process of voting. A total of 990 at Bahragora, 1109 at Ghatshila, 1228 at Potka, 1399 at Jugsalai, 1452 at Jamshedpur East and 1606 at Jamshedpur.
