Security beefed up for Ram Navami procession today, strict vigil

Jamshedpur, April 5: With an aim to ensure peaceful Ramnavmi the East Singhbhum administration has made elaborate arrangements. The administration deployed adequate policemen and paramilitary personnel to prevent any untoward incident. Several sensitive areas have been identified and Rapid Action Force jawans will be posted accordingly.

East Singhbhum district administration has made tight security arrangements in the steel city and its outskirts to ensure smooth passage of Ramnavami immersion processions. Nearly 160 licensed akharas will take part in it.

The administration has put a complete prohibition on entry of long distance buses to city. Buses will leave passengers on NH-33 at either Dimna roundabout or Pardih roundabout. Prohibition on entry of trucks and other heavy vehicles has been made from 12 noon on April 6 till 6 am of April 7.

More than 1800 police force along with 12 companies of Rapid Action Force (paramilitary force), four companies of Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) and 400 homeguards will be deployed across city with 157 magistrates.

There will be 24×7 control room at composite control room (CCR) office in Sakchi police station campus, while temporary control room will be functional at Bagbera police station and Mango police station.

An emergency control room will be established by Juvnl under executive engineer Manmohan Kumar and the 24×7 phone number is 0657-2371593. Power supply will stopped in areas having overhead wires for entire duration of the Ramnavami immersion rituals to avoid electrocution due to flags. There will be no power supply from 2 pm (afternoon) of April 6 till 12 in the night.

Meanwhile colourful professions marked Ramnavmi celebrations in the city on Wednesday night. Devotees in large number participated in the celebrations with members of several Akhara committees displaying dare devil acts through out the route.

The procession comprised band and sankirtan parties formed of devotees coming from other parts of district especially for the occasion. It was much fun-filled and colourful affair Rathyatras or chariot processions of Ram, his wife Sita, brother Lakshman and devotee Hanuman began from various temples. Special havans were organised along with Vedic mantras.

�After directions from the district administration we have asked the akhara committees to avoid using glass tubes and kerosene during procession as the two items are very dangerous,� said R B Singh, senior functionary of Central Peace Committee.
