Jamshedpur, Sep 23: SDSM School for Excellence kicked off the CBSE Zonal (East Zone) Archery Championship 2024, running from September 23 to 25. The inauguration featured the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest Padmashri Purnima Mahato, along with Chairman Diwakar Singh and Principal Moushumi Das. The event was further graced by archery champions and Olympians, including Ankita Bhagat, Bhajan Kaur, and Komolika Barik, alongside prominent coach B. S. Rao and observer Poonam Roy from St. Mary’s English High School.

The championship welcomed 49 schools and over 300 participants from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, all paying homage to the CBSE Sports flag. The atmosphere at SDSM was electrified by a vibrant performance from 400 students, who showcased a welcome dance that culminated in the unveiling of “ZONAL ARCHERY” through musical drills.
Principal Moushumi Das expressed gratitude to the CBSE for entrusting the event to the school and highlighted the importance of sports in education. Chief Guest Mahato motivated the students, emphasizing that archery, a game requiring concentration, can enhance their academic performance as well. She officially opened the championship by releasing the event mascot, marking the start of the competition.
