SDO holds meeting for peaceful festivals in city

Jamshedpur: Dhalbhum sub divisional officer Suraj Kumar today held a meeting with the representatives of various peace committees, Durga Puja committees, government departments and city outfits to chalk out strategy to ensure peaceful conduct of festivals.

The SDO, accompanied by ADM law and order Subodh Kumar sought suggestions from the peace committee members and puja organizers to improve the preparations by the administration for Durga Puja, Bakrid and Muharram.

He said the district police had planned to install close circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the puja pandals of Mango area. The cameras will also be installed at several pandals in other areas.

The officials asked representatives of various peace committees and puja committees to ensure safety arrangements to avoid fire incidents, hooliganism, disorder and overcrowding at sensitive and important public venues.

They also asked organizers to keep separate dustbins for plastic waste. They said that every puja pandal should ensure presence of first aid kit and fire extinguishers to their discretion.

A list of volunteers of Red Cross and Civil Defence was also sought by the SDO to help administration deal with any exigency.
