Jamshedpur, June 28: Two Jamshedpur based industrialists were on Sunday felicitated by Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) after they cancelled Rs 5 crore contract with a Chinese firm for their upcoming 5 Star Hotel in Adityapur. Harpinder Singh Rocky and Harjeet Singh owners of the upcoming posh hotel were welcomed by SCCI President Ashok Bhalotia, general secretary Bharat Vasani, PRW secretary Anil Modi, Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) national secretary Suresh Sonthalia and others at the Chamber Bhawan in Bistupur on Sunday evening. The owners of Suraj Hospitality Pvt Ltd’s 5 star hotel which is under construction at Adityapur Second Phase said, “We have cancelled all orders given to Chinese company. We went to China in November and visited several companies for hotel’s furniture and signed contract with a company worth Rs 5 crore and paid Rs 70 lakh as advance.” Hotel owners had ordered furniture, lights and decorative items.
CAIT official praised the duo and said, ‘We have decided to mobilize traders in India to boycott Chinese goods and lend support to indigenous products, after the India and China engaged in skirmishes at the Galwan Valley. CAIT released a list of 500 categories of products imported from China that it said could be swapped with goods made in India. These include items such as apparel, consumer electronics, kitchenware, watches, decorative lighting, toys, etc.
Ashok Bhalotia while felicitating the industrialists said, one must take a firm pledge to support national movement to boycott Chinese products and promote Indian goods.
