Jamshedpur : A day after Suresh Sonthalia was elected the president of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry( SCCI) unopposed, the candidates for other important posts intensify the drive to woo voters. Suresh Sonthalia and Prabhakar Singh groups are putting best effort to garner support for the coveted election. The candidates visited different areas of the city to attract voters.
Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), a leading representative body of entrepreneurs and small industrial houses based in the Kolhan division, is all set for the election of its new committee. The election will conclude on September 24 with the polling.
It may be mentioned that the SCCI has been functioning without the president since May this year after its president Raj Kumar Agarwal was sent to jail for his role in the 2012 Rajya Sabha cash-for-vote scam.
The oldest traders body of the state (second in undivided Bihar) SCCI which was constituted in 1950 has close to 1100 members and is the largest body looking after businessmen interest in Kolhan region comprising East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts.
