Jamshedpur, Nov 21: The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has urged IndiGo Airlines to enhance air connectivity from Ranchi, citing growing travel demand from both businesses and the general public.
In a memorandum submitted on Friday, the Chamber highlighted that improved airline services would play a vital role in boosting trade, tourism, and industrial development across Jharkhand.
SCCI President Manav Kedia noted that efficient air travel is directly linked to regional economic expansion and the competitiveness of local industries.
He expressed optimism that IndiGo, being the country’s leading carrier, will take proactive steps to meet the expectations of passengers and businesses in the state.
Major Requests Submitted to IndiGo
* Reinstate the Ranchi–Jaipur flight, or offer the route with a technical stopover in Delhi.
* Launch a direct Ranchi–Goa service with a return flight, considering the sharp rise in travel to both North and South Goa.
* Resume the Ranchi–Srinagar flight with a technical layover, a route that previously received strong support from passengers.
* Increase the Ranchi–Mumbai flight frequency to address sustained business travel demand.
* Restore free seat selection and meal options under SME fares, benefiting small and medium enterprises.
The trade outfit stressed that these improvements will greatly enhance passenger convenience while contributing to Jharkhand’s long-term economic ambitions.
