Jamshedpur, Oct 4: This year most pandals are coming out with themes of social con cern. These pandals are becoming sources of attraction and are definitely making people wake up to certain realities that need to be challenged for survival of all life forms.

One such Puja Pandal is the Mai Darbar Durga Puja Pandal on Road # 4 in Bagbera. A 35 feet tall cutout of a mother affectionately holding a girl child in her arms sets the spirit of the slogan, �Save the girl child, Educate the girl child.� This happens to be the only air conditioned pandal in the whole state.

A donation box has been placed in the Pandal for collection of funds from Pandal visitors. The funds collected from public donation will be handed over to the district administration as relief money for the flood affected people of Patna.

The Mai Darbar Durga Puja Pandal was formally inaugurated on Thursday, October 3 by the Chief Guest Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum Ravi Shankar Shukla and other guests of honour jointly by lighting the traditional lamp. Praising the Puja Committee for expressing its support to the slogan, �Save the girl child, Educate the girl child,� in a very artistic and effective manner, the DC said, �A woman�s self respect should be protected, especially by the younger generation with utmost commitment and dedication. I urge the citizens to discard plastic use and pay heed to the urgency of cleanliness to ensure a cleaner and greener environment. I urge all of you to take up this cause as a people�s movement.� He prayed to Goddess Durga for peace and prosperity of the people.

Among those present during the inauguration of the Mai Darbar Durga Puja Pandal were Anurag Tiwary, Dinesh Kumar, Vikas Singh, Appu Tiwary, Ajay Singh, Sanjay Mishra, Amarjit Singh Raja, Ankit Anand, DK Mishra, Santosh Thakur, Sonu Singh, Pawan Ojha, Abhishek Ojha, Rajni Ojha, Rahul Kumar, Bhim Singh, Raju Kumar, Prashant Pandey, Tinku Singh and others.
