Saurabh Tiwary proves his class but misses out on ton

Himalayan Paths

Jamshedpur: Saurabh Tiwary has been working hard for a few years now to shed his T20 tag and establish himself as a proper first-class batsman. He was consistent last season.

At Keenan Stadium he gave a good account of his patience and grit but missed out on a century scoring 91 off 239 balls including seven fours and a six.

Progress was very slow for Jharkhand against Gujarat after they won the toss and at stumps on Day One they could only manage 194 for five in 89.3 overs.

Tiwary, however, ensured that the hosts didn’t suffer a middle-order collapse as he put on 135 runs for the third wicket with Rameez Nemat (78) after the first two wickets fell with just 35 runs on the board.

On the second day Tiwary started attacking after seeing himself running out of partners. His patience could not last long and was caught of the bowling of Akshar Patel when the score was 244. The team was all out for 289.
