Saryu underscores challenges on Independence Day

Jamshedpur : City celebrated 72nd Independence Day with patriotic fervour on Wednesday. State food and civil supplies minister Saryu Roy hoisted the national flag at Gopal Maidan. In his address, Roy said that Government is dedicated in ensuring all round development.

He said that the nation had progressed on multiple areas, but that the development has given rise pollution, ecological imbalance and deforestation.

“We are proud to say that India has progressed on various aspects and is counted among the top countries in economic index. However, we must also remember that development has given rise to pollution, deforestation, water pollution and malnutrition. The government should try to find out means to tackle such challenges and risks,” Roy said.

The minister also appreciated the Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for its efforts in providing house to all and affordable LPG gas.
“The government is trying to fulfill ambitious projects such as houses to all by 2020 and LPG to the poor. Work is being done to extend the benefits of government’s flagship schemes to the remotest of villages, has been a success,” Roy said.

The BJP leader also supported the government attempts at identifying infiltrators through National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam.

In his address, he said that the development of rural areas has been uneven in compare to urban areas. However, the Government will work to ensure the development of rural areas.�We want to assure the people of the district that the administration is dedicated in ensuring all round development. The rural population would receive benefits of all the welfare schemes of the Government�, he noted.

Later, successors of freedom fighters, along with students of different exam boards, who had topped in the annual examinations, were felicitated by Roy. Units of Jharkhand Armed Police, RAF, district police, NCC, besides scouts and guides took part in the march past.
