Jamshedpur, Nov 8: State food and civil supplies minister Saryu Roy met Union food minister Ramvilas Paswan to discuss about skyrocketing prices of onion. He said the Union minister had assured to help Jharkhand control onion prices. Centre is providing onion stocks to states with the help of National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and is also importing the same from overseas, Roy said.
Roy said the price of onion will come down considerably in next two weeks since new harvest of onion would be ready in the producer states. He said he had apprised Paswan of steps being taken by the state government to bring down onion prices. He said the price hike was of temporary nature and the result of untimely rains.
