Jamshedpur, April 1: Jharkhand Food and civil supplies minister Saryu Rai conducted a surprise inspection of the Ranchi district public distribution system (PDS) office and collected information regarding the number of PDS officers managing the ration distribution.
Rai asked the DSO Manoj Kumar and MOR SB Mehra if any special order was created to monitor the supply of ration. The minister was told that no such order was created.
When Rai asked the officials as to how they suspend the dealers and how new dealers are issued license, he was told that all these works are done by ADO and this information is not provided to the department.
During the inspection minister found that there was lack of coordination among the circle officer and district supply officer.
Rai also inquired about the end to end computerization, hand held devices to dealers and biometric machines. The minister was told that training of AGM is being imparted and work is nearing its completion.
The main thing that came out during the inspection was that within the district SDO’s supply shop and district supply officer there is lack of coordination.
