Jamshedpur, Jan 5: Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy on Monday laid foundation stones and inaugurated development projects worth over Rs 2.86 crore under the Mango Municipal Corporation and Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee.
The projects are being executed through the MLA Local Area Development Fund and the District Plan (Untied Fund).
The initiatives include the foundation laying of 38 projects worth Rs 2.05 crore funded through the MLA quota, the inauguration of four completed projects costing Rs 26.32 lakh, and the foundation stone for the construction of six additional classrooms at Dimna Middle School at an estimated cost of Rs 55.50 lakh under the District Plan Untied Fund.
Addressing the gathering, Roy said his priority is to ensure optimum utilization of development funds received from the government for the direct benefit of the public.
He stressed that scattered construction of small roads and drains through MLA or MP funds does not yield long-term benefits.
Roy advocated for a comprehensive, settlement-wise development survey by the Mango Municipal Corporation and Jamshedpur NAC to assess actual requirements for improving living standards.
Based on this assessment, structured development plans should be prepared and adequate funds sought from the government, to be implemented in phases if necessary.
Reiterating the need for a drain-based development model, Roy directed officials to divide Mango into four zones and prepare an integrated development blueprint.
He emphasized mapping all small and large drains to ensure smooth water flow into major channels, which would help prevent waterlogging in homes and on roads during the monsoon.
Several public representatives and local residents were present on the occasion.
