Chakulia, March 19: Ghagra village situated on a hill in Matiyabandhi Panchayat under Chakulia Block was the scene of devotion and gaiety as villagers celebrated Sarhul festival associated with the worship of nature. The people prayed for peace and prosperity as priest Ashok Singh recited the mantras. The Bhumij community of Ghagra village danced to the beat of traditional percussion instruments. The Sarhul rituals were performed at the Gotashila Jaher Sthan.
Those present on the occasion included Gram Pradhan Rajendra Singh, Nakul Singh, Ram Singh, Sahdeb Singh, Jamini Singh, Bharat Singh and others.
