Jamshedpur, April1: Srinath College of Education celebrated ‘Sarhul,’ the festival dedicated to nature worship especially the Sal tree which is rooted in nature and celebrates the symbolic union of the sun and the earth. It signifies the importance of trees in the environment.
Among the dignitaries present were the Chairman of the college Sukhdeo Mahato, Principal Dr. Bhavya Bhushan and faculty members. The Principal spoke about the significance and importance of the festival and encouraged the students by planting ‘Sal ‘and ‘Palash’ trees in the campus. The college has taken the initiative to protect, promote and preserve tribal culture, heritage, rituals and traditions that teach us to live in harmony with nature.
On this occasion a Sohrai painting competition was organised in which only natural colours were used. Students of B .Ed and D El.Ed participated in this competition. The competition winners were given certificates. The competition was organised under the guidance of Ganesh Mahato and cultural cell in-charge Bina Mahto.
