Saraikela: With the state of illegal parking of heavy vehicles along the Saraikela main road appearing in a newspaper that also mentioned hotspots, the police administration is on its toes and police personnel have been posted at such spots where truckers were on Thursday warned and let off with sterner actions to be followed from Friday, October 9.
Saraikela-Kharsawan SP Md Arshi said that police personnel had been posted at the hotspots and strict vigil is being maintained at such points with warnings being issued to erring drivers against parking of vehicles illegally. They were let off with warnings and punitive measures including fines, seizer of vehicles and legal proceedings would be effected from October 9 and the process would continue. The SP also stated that all police personnel deputed at the hotspots would be monitored as well and would face disciplinary action for dereliction of duty.
The line hotel or dhaba owners have also been warned of illegal parking in front of their eateries. The warnings include that they should arrange parking space for vehicles, keep watchmen for the purposes of guarding the vehicles failing which they too would be penalized.
The recent accident that took place in front of the Sadar Hospital in Saraikela has prompted the police station OC Navin Prakash Pandey to write to the Saraikela SDO and seek his guidance regarding eviction of unauthorized structures that have come up on government land around the Sadar Hospital complex leading to traffic bottlenecks and narrow space that have been the major cause of major road accidents. It may be mentioned that certain elements are hell bent on capturing government land in an unauthorized manner and incidents of fiery fights continue to be reported.
It has been eight years since the biggest hospital in the district came up and in spite of it being in a silent zone, the situation that prevails is contra-indicatory. The Sadar Hospital is the scene of frantic honking and whizzing sounds of speeding vehicles and encroached land along a periphery of 100 meters which are simply illegal. As a measure to check this nuisance along with ending the eyesore of illegal and haphazard parking especially of heavy vehicles, the Saraikela police station has sought the SDOs directives to remove the legal sores.
SP Md Arshi has assured that the process of regulating traffic to make movement less cumbersome and safe has commenced as of Thursday and errant vehicle drivers have been warned and let off for today but from Friday, no mercy would be shown towards such illegal ways. Parking illegally will attract fines, offending vehicles will be seized and relevant legal proceedings will be initiated against offenders.
