Jamshedpur, March 30: In its effort to increase and maintain the green cover of Jamshedpur, utility services company Jusco along with the press and media fraternity of the steel city took up a mass tree plantation drive in the western part of the township.
The plantation drive was taken up near River Pump House round-about on the road side leading to Mango Bridge. Around 1000 saplings were planted by editors, bureau chiefs, correspondents and photographers from the press/media fraternity of Jamshedpur representing national and regional publications and the electronic media.
Shaba Alam Ansari, IFS, East Singhbhum District Forest Officer, Dhalbhum, and Ashish Mathur, MD, Jusco along with Raghunath Pandey, president, Jusco Shramik Union, participated in the plantation drive. The initiative was led by Capt. Dhananjay Mishra, Sr. GM (Jamshedpur Town Operations), Jusco, along with Dr Manoj Biswal, Arun Vidyut and a team from Horticulture Department of the company. Senior management team of Jusco and office bearers of Jusco Shramik Union also actively participated in the plantation drive.
The objective behind this drive is not only to increase the green cover but a holistic development of Jamshedpur with improved municipal solid waste management, wider road network, zero waste water discharge, smart energy, etc.

Jamshedpur is known for its green cover and parks and is probably the greenest industrial city of the country. This initiative will further the cause of green cover and will make Jamshedpur cleaner, greener, safer and smarter.
