Jamshedpur, Mar 6: A sanitation worker has lost his job after a video surfaced on social media showing him throwing garbage onto the tracks from a moving train. The incident involved Kanchan Lal, an employee working for a company providing onboard housekeeping services. Following the video’s circulation, the railway conducted an investigation and found that the company had violated Clause 9 of the cleanliness contract.

In response, the Prayagraj division imposed a Rs 25,000 fine on the contractor and issued a stern warning, indicating that any further violations would lead to stricter penalties. The contractor clarified that Lal was instructed not to throw garbage on the tracks while working on train number 04115, Subedarganj-Lokmanya Tilak Special, on February 28. However, Lal acted negligently, leading to his removal from duty.

The railway has since directed all onboard housekeeping service providers to train their staff on proper waste disposal procedures. Employees are now required to use large waste collection bags and dispose of garbage at designated stations or the train’s final destination, ensuring no waste is discarded while the train is in motion.
