Sand trader shot dead in broad daylight in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old youth, a sand trader by profession, was shot dead by two bike-borne criminals at Majhitola crossing along the Tata-Kandra Road under Adityapur  police station area in Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Wednesday morning.

The murder victim identified as Sujay Nandi was a resident of S-Type area in Adityapur and was a sand trader. According to information, Sujay was sitting on his bike, waiting for his clients at the Majhitola Chowk near S-Type at about 8 am, when two bike-borne criminals reached.  

One of them took out a pistol from his waist and opened a shot.  On being shot from the close range, the victim fell down in a pool of blood.  



Incidentally, the two criminals fled the scene and moved away towards Bistupur, leading some other bikers to chase them, but of no use.

The locals rushed him to Tata Main Hospital where the doctors on emergency duty declared him dead.

A police party had rushed to the spot as soon as the murder took place, but by the time the criminals had disappeared from the scene.

OC, Adityapur police station, Rajendra Prasad confirmed about the murder of a budding businessman at Majhitola Chowk this morning.

” We are investigating the incident. The criminals shot the victim from close range, causing him to die on the spot.  We have sent the body to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem having registered a case of murder and Arms Act against unidentified assailants,” said Prasad.

Speaking on the investigation front, the OC said that they are trying to get the killers identified by taking statements of those present at the scene of murder.  He said they are also trying to study footage of CCTV cameras at the Majhitola Chowk and also on the Tata-Kandra Road’s Bistupur end toward which the two sped away on their bike.

Sources revealed that a notorious criminal Krishna Gope who is presently lodged at the Seraikela Divisional Jail might be behind the attack on the sand trader.

Tata-Kandra main road jam for two hours

Jamshedpur: Soon after the incident, the local people blocked the Tata-Kandra main road demanding the arrest of the killers. Adityapur police took Adityapur Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Amit Singh into custody as he was leading the road jam to convince the angry people.

 Despite this, people remained on the road. The Tata-Kandra main road was jammed for about two hours. However, the road jam was lifted after security to the family, arrest of criminals within 24 hours, trial in fast track court and conviction of criminals and written assurance of proper compensation to the family was given.

Suspicion on Krishna Gope locked in Ghaghidih Jail

Jamshedpur: It is being said that the murder of Sujay has been hatched from the Ghaghidih jail in Jamshedpur by the accused Krishna Gope, who is serving a sentence in the Deepak Munda murder case in 2017. It is being feared that Sujay was the main witness in the Deepak Munda murder case and because of this Krishna Gope had attacked Sujay in 2018.

However, at that time, Sujay could be saved by airlifting to Medanta Delhi. Sujay was to be deposed in the case next month. Police are currently investigating the case. By the way, the family raised questions on the police administration and said that the trust in the working style of the police has been lost.

Doctors find pellet stuck in neck of sand dealer

Jamshedpur: Doctors performing autopsy at the MGMC Hospital on the body of sand trader Sujoy Nandi, extracted a gun pellet stuck in the neck region of the victim who was shot dead at the S-Type chowk under Adityapur poloice station. The pellet was handed over to the Adityapur police. Sujoy was shot with a gun pointed at his neck. The deceased’s relatives took the body to Adityapur.
