Jamshedpur: Dhalbhum SDO Chandan Kumar Friday said the 13 samples collected from eight sweets shops across the city have been found to be of sub-standard and unsafe quality. Some of the samples were also found to be suffering from misbranding.
The SDO said the samples were collected by special teams formed by the district administration. The teams conducted a special drive of surprise inspections of various sweets shops from 6th October to 15th October. Samples of cottage cheese (paneer), khowa, laddoos, papad, curd and sweets were collected by the officials and were later sent to the state food laboratory in Ranchi.
According to the SDO, the shops whose products were found to be of sub-standard quality are Sagar Sweets, Bistupur, Vrindavan Sweets, Bistupur, New Shaligram Sweets, Bistupur, Nadiya Mishthann Bhandar, Sakchi, Anandijee Sweets, Sakchi, Sakchi Mishthann Bhandar, Sakchi, New Hotel Suman Sweets, Mango and Girish Chanachur, Sakchi.
The SDO said action is being taken against the sweets shop proprietors under various sections of Food Safety and Standard Act 2006.
