Samarth Sarathi: Gulmohur School’s new initiative to ease class V students into high school environs

Jamshedpur, Feb 17: The tests at Gulmohur High School concluded on Saturday, February 17. The school will reopen for the next academic session and students of class V will be graduating to the high school level. The physical environs will not change but some thoughts, some memories and some emotions through eight years will linger in the memories of class V students as they graduate to the next level of their school education pursuit.

The transition from primary to high school will bring along a sense of overwhelmed emotions for the students.  With this realization, Gulmohur High School has introduced a unique initiative called ‘Samarth Saarthi’. On Saturday, after the exams were over, the class V students sat in the Tata Auditorium, listening to Gurpreet Singh – the school Head Boy who narrated how thrilling life was going to be once they entered High School.

They also met teachers who will teach them when they entered class VI.

The students were very excited to know about the ‘Tour De Gulmohur’ – a walk around the High School premises to acquaint themselves with various places like the school labs, library and playgrounds. They learnt about the Financial Literacy classes, Ten Bag-less days, new and exciting clubs like AI & Robotics, Photography and Dramatics as part of their Thursday Activity Club.

Some of the students who were keen on Sports were elated to know about the new facilities the school was providing for swimming and lawn tennis.

The council members and prefects could foster a sense of belonging and pride among the students by letting them know of the school’s wonderful legacy and achievements. Riyansh, a student of class V and his friends were assured of their senior’s assistance through their first year in high school. The members of the Student Council of class XII and the prefects of class X had taken up leadership positions in this program. They will be handholding, mentoring and guiding their juniors as well as working on a few innovative projects together in their one year association with each other at the high school section.
