Jamshedpur, Feb 8: Leg spinner Samar Quadri’s six-wicket haul set up Jharkhand’s nine-wicket win against Services in their Group C Ranji Trophy match at Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur.
Shahbaz Nadeem picked up 2 wickets while Varun Aaron and Rituraj Singh picked a wicket each.
The third day started with Services facing a deficit of 157 runs, their opening batsman Soumik Chatterjee and Sumit Singh failed to gather any momentum in their second innings and Chatterjee was out for 2 when the score was just 2 runs.
Sumit Singh was out for 35, Yashpal Singh and Saurabh Kumar were pick of the batsman who scored 51 and 65 runs respectively with a 71-run stand for the eighth wicket, but Services struggled to string together any other meaningful partnership, as they folded for 235 inside 65 overs.
Samar Quadri collected 6 for 102 to wreck the team’s top and lower order.
It meant that Jharkhand needed just 79 for victory, and despite losing Ishan Kishan early, they overhauled that target in 12.1 overs, thanks to an unbroken 66-run partnership between Sumit Kumar (42) and Shiv Gautam (34).
Jharkhand collected 6 points but have failed to qualify for the next stage.
Jharkhand 387 (Gautam 150, Jaggi 63) and 84 for 1 (Sumit 42*) beat Services 230 (Sethi 61, Aaron 3-46) and 235 (Saurabh 65, Yashpal 51, Quadri 6-102) by nine wickets.
