Jamshedpur, Sept. 23: To make the citizens aware of ill effects of polythene bags and support the district administration’s polythene free campaign, social organization ‘Samadhan’ on Friday launched Anti-polythene campaign at Kadma market to help keep the environment clean and green.
Members of ‘Samadhan’ distributed free eco-friendly carry bags among the buyers and shopkeepers and asked them not to use plastic bags.
Members of ‘Samadhan’ appealed the people to use cloth bags whenever they are out in the market and not to use plastic bags as they pollute the environment. Chief guest for the occasion was district public relation officer (DPRO) Sanjay Kumar and patron of ‘Samadhan’ Dinesh Kumar.
On the occasion President of ‘Samadhan’, Poonam Vig, heading the campaign, said we are buying a deadly disease like cancer when we buy goods from a shopkeeper in a plastic bag. People need to be made aware about the harmful effects of polythene and the loss it creates to the environment.
It’s a collective duty to keep our environment clean and pollution free. All the citizens should come forward and stop use of polythene bags and make our city polythene free for which ‘Samadhan’ will continue its drive for environment conservation, added Vig.
During the campaign eco-friendly carry bags were distributed among the school students. O the occasion, Kiran Shaw, Amita Mahendru, Anil Singh, Ankit Anand, Kapil Kumar, Chaggan Kumar, Madhusmita Bera and others were present.
