SAFE Clubs observe Fire Safety Month, spread awareness

Jamshedpur: The Senior and Junior SAFE Club of ADLS Sunshine School are celebrating
April as the fire safety month which aims to promote awareness amongst students and staff against the threat of fire.

The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by introduction of Senior SAFE club members for the academic session 2014-15. This year a Junior SAFE club was formed to ensure that awareness on fire safety is promoted right from a tender age. Various competitions were also conducted which included chart making slogan writing on fire safety. Informative power point presentation was presented by the discipline minister of the school.

A street-corner play on fire safety was also staged by the students of the SAFE Club of the school. The highlight of the program was an interactive session and Fire safety training was conducted by Kunal Lambhate, an expert from the fire brigade department of Tata Steel.

Many important issues like understanding different fire classes like trash wood paper, liquid grease, gasoline, electrical equipment, computer and combustible sodium, the combustion process and finally fire extinguisher structure was explained. Providing hands on practice on the use of fire extinguisher in the premises was also an important part of the training. Other important aspects like how to deal with fire in a building, precautions to be taken were also discussed. This was followed by an interactive session where the children cleared many doubts.
