Jamshedpur, July 10: SAFE (Safety Awareness For Everyone) in association with Tata Steel organised a webinar on ‘Impact of COVID-19 on students and teachers’ today. The webinar was chaired by Chairperson, SAFE, Ruchi Narendran. She emphasised on wearing mask, following Covid appropriate behaviour, Covid vaccine as a ray of hope, role of students in vaccination drive among other related topics. Neeraj Sinha, Chief Safety, Tata Steel welcomed all the participants and congratulated SAFE team for its achievements and success.
Col (Dr.) Anuj Bhatnagar, Head Public Health, Corporate Social Responsibility department, Tata Steel shared the information and misconceptions related to Covid-19. The topics on which he elaborated included overview of present scenario and likelihood of third wave of COVID-19, importance of vaccination, continuation of COVID-19 appropriate behavior such as masking, social distancing and hand-washing, issues related to feeling of isolation, perceived stress among students due to prolonged shutdown of schools, possible ways to cope with such issues.
Many questions related to COVID-19 were raised by the teachers and students. Dr Bhatnagar appealed students to participate in the fight against the pandemic. He advised students to help people who have little knowledge of internet, in booking slots on the CoWin app for vaccination. He also suggested participants to stay away from the misinformation related to COVID-19 in the social media.
The session was conducted through WebEx platform. About 1500 students, teachers, principals and SAFE coordinators from different schools of Jamshedpur benefited from the session through the online medium.
