Jamshedpur, Feb 10: even three months after the birth of a child in the Sadar Hospital at Khasmahal, the authorities have failed to issue a birth certificate to the family. Social organization, �Jan Satyagrah� has taken up the matter and has urged the Deputy Commissioner and the Family Welfare Department about the lacuna and urged the authorities to ensure that the birth certificate of the child born three months earlier at the Sadar hospital be issued without further delay.
�Jan Satyagrah� delegation also met Civil Surgeon Dr Maheshwar Prasad on February 8 and informed him of the lackadaisical attitude of the hospital authorities in issuing the birth certificate. Dr Prasad directed the departmental officer concerned to issue the certificate without delay. But when the delegation met the departmental official concerned, they were informed that it would take a month�s time to get the certificate issued.
An aghast Jan Satyagrah president Manjit Kumar Mishra exclaimed, �If they are doing this to people like us, I shudder to think what the fate of the poor or illiterate people would be like in the hands of people like such departmental officials and staff members.�
