Jamshedpur: RVS College of Engineering and Technology organized an insightful lecture on environmental awareness, featuring noted environmentalist Arindam Ghosh from R.S.V. Global Venue as the chief speaker.
The event commenced with a warm welcome from Prof. Dr. Rajesh Kumar Tiwari, Principal of the college, who honoured Ghosh with a bouquet and a memento. In his address, Prof. Tiwari underscored the importance of maintaining environmental purity despite advancements in science and technology. “Scientific progress should not come at the cost of our environment. We must take conscious steps to preserve nature,” he remarked, urging Ghosh to share practical insights on environmental conservation.
During his lecture, Ghosh highlighted the alarming levels of environmental pollution affecting daily life. He elaborated on water, air and noise pollution, emphasizing their threats to human health. He particularly stressed the urgent need to prevent the pollution of natural water bodies such as rivers, ponds and lakes. Additionally, he pointed out that industrial emissions require scientific intervention to mitigate air pollution.
Following the lecture, senior faculty members, including Prof. Tiwari, Dr. Vikram Sharma (Training & Placement Head), Dr. Sharat Chandra Mahato (Dean), Krishna Murari and Dr. Rajesh Kumar Paswan (Head of Civil Engineering Department), accompanied Ghosh on a tour of the campus. Impressed by the institution’s eco-friendly initiatives, Ghosh lauded the water harvesting systems, large-scale tree plantations and the lush green landscape across the college grounds.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vikram Sharma, marking the successful culmination of an enlightening session on environmental responsibility. (
