RVS College of Engineering and Technology celebrates 10th anniversary

Jamshedpur: RVS College of Engineering and Technology completed its ten glorious years of imparting technical education in the state of Jharkhand on Thursday.

Celebrating the tenth anniversary, the RVSCET family analyzed its achievements and chalked out outlines of future work plan. On 22nd May 2004 the main building of the college was unveiled by the then chief minister of Jharkhand Arjun Munda. Munda had expressed hope that this college would prove to be the worth remarking centre of technical education in the state of Jharkhand. He had also said that it would give the state its identity in the field of technical education on national level.

On the occasion of its tenth anniversary, the director of the college Professor Dr MP Singh said six batches of four year B. Tech courses had passed out from the college so far. In all, these six batches one thousand four hundred and fifteen students successfully got the B. Tech degree and most of them got employment in various industries. The college has produced employable engineers and this is the biggest achievement of the college.

Prof. Singh also said that our pass out students got employment in both public and private sectors of repute. Many of our students are working in multinational companies of which some are giving their services abroad.

The chairman of the college Binda singh cut the cake and congratulated the teaching and non teaching staff. He said that all the employees have worked with team spirit which made it a brand name in the field of technical education and all the appreciable recognition that the college got is the result of team work. Singh stressed that in the time of tough competition, this college has to produce competent and employable engineers because only they are the requirement of industry today. Apart from this industrial training must be ascertained for the exclusive growth professionalism.

The college was started with intake capacity of 240 in 2004, but in 2008 AICTE increased the number of seats from 60 TO 120 in ECE and Mechanical Engineering department. Due to the satisfactory performance, the number of seats was increased from 60 to 120 in CSE department.
Earlier in 2007, the then governor of Jharkhand officially inaugurated the hostel in the campus. He was well influenced by the high standard of the management of the college and donated rupees two lac for the betterment of the college.

In 2011, M Tech course has been introduced in CSE department. In response to the industrial requirement, two new branches, Civil Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering, are opened. Now, there are six branches and two of them bear master courses. The total intake capacity has gone up to 678. The teaching standard is update so that in four years we got university toppers in Ranchi and Kolhan Universities. Vandana Sharan from 2004-08 batch, Deepak Kumar Barnwal from 2005-09, Sumit Kumar Singh from 2007-2011 and Hapreet Singh fro 2008-12 are the university toppers.

The treasurer of the institute Shatrughna Singh said they don�t have to go for merely quantitative education; instead we have to go for qualitative education. In the process we are trying to secure accreditation from National Board of Accreditation of the government of India.

On this occasion the principal of the college Dr Sukomal Ghosh, all the HODs, faculty members and staff were present. The function was conducted by HOD (training and placement) N Roychoudhary.
