Jamshedpur, July 28: Tata Steel organized the �JRD Tata Annual Inter School Quiz 2016� at Michael John Auditorium in Bistupur on Thursday.
Mita Singhal graced the occasion as the chief guest. Around 130 teams from 35 schools of Jamshedpur participated in the competition. The Quiz was conducted by Quiz Master Lloyd Saldhana of Grey Caps India Limited, Bangalore.
After rounds of intense battle, Kaustuk Raj and Salman Khan of Rajendra Vidyalaya (RV) were crowned the champions.
Aryan Kumar and Ashit Kumar of SDSM School of Excellence were declared first runners-up while Anish Roy and G Vishnu of Little Flower School (LFS) ended as second runners-up of the competition.
Nafees and Jyotiraditya of DAV Public School, Bistupur, Rishav Mishra and D Shashank of DBMS English School and Piyush Jena and Mayank Agarwal of Kerala Samajam Model School received the consolation prizes.
After a written preliminary round answered by some 270 students from about 35 schools across the city only six schools including Kerala Samajam Model School; DBMS English School; Little Flower School; SDSM School for Excellence; Rajendra Vidyalaya and DAV Public School, Bistupur, reached the final round.
The winners received a cash prize of Rs 10,000, while the first runners up received a cash prize of Rs 8,000. They will also get a joy ride in a plane on the JRD Tata’s birthday tomorrow. The second runners up received a cash prize of Rs 6,000. All the finalists received certificates too.
Mita Singhal, secretary of AIWC (All India Women’s Conference), Jamshedpur, who was the chief guest on the occasion, gave away the prizes.
Speaking on the occasion, Mita Singhal said, �JRD Tata used to emphasize on ethics and values. He wanted us to invest in education, research and science and technology.
He wanted to improve the quality of life for the general people. I am happy to see that today some questions on ethics were also included in the quiz.
I believe ethics and values should be our way of life and it is possible if we start early in life.�
