Jamshedpur, Dec. 17: The annual sports meet of Jamshedpur Public School (JPS) began with the school flag being unfurled by Chief Guest Mr. Suresh Kumar, VP, Shared Services, Tata Steel on Thursday.
This was followed by the March Past by the senior students of class 8 to 12, while the Kg Students were the Cheer Leaders. The Chief Guest motivated the students and inspired them to take keen interest in sports along with academics. Suresh Kumar gave away the prizes for the pre sports day events such as Shot put, long jump etc.
The JRD Sports Complex got to witness an exuberant show of colours and enthusiastic performances by the various Drill displays such as the ‘Spectrum of Colours’ by the students of class 1 and 2, the ‘Rising Sun’ by the students of class 3 and 4 who gave the message that one must try to harness the energy of the sun by using Solar Energy; the ‘Crusaders of Peace’ by students of class 5 to 7. The Taekwondo show kept the audience spellbound as the little masters displayed their skill.
The other major events of the day were the 100mts flat race for boys and girls, the 100 X 4 relay race for boys and girls and fun events for students of the primary block. The crowd puller was the event for the ex students, staff & teachers where they also got a chance to show their athletic skills.
The best athlete (Boys) was awarded to Ritwick Sandilya of class 11 while best athlete (girls) was awarded to Vartika Pandey of class 11. Best March Past award was bagged by Emerald House.
Overall Championship Trophy was awarded to Ruby House while runner-up trophy was awarded to Emerald House.
