CM lays foundation of tourism projects worth Rs 77.28 cr, unveils master plan

Ranchi, Nov 11: Chief Minister Raghubar Das today announced to invest Rs 200 crore in Patratu with the view to develop tourism in the region. He made the announcement after laying the foundation stone of tourism development projects worth Rs 77.28 crore on the banks of Patratu Dam.
The CM also unveiled a master plan for the development of Patratu Dam at an expense of Rs 6836.57 crore. He said the dam would be developed across an area of 120 acres. The tourism projects started today would see development of Hundru, Dasham, Jonha and Panchghagh, he said.
Iterating his government�s commitment to eradicate poverty and unemployment of Jharkhand, the CM said, �Jharkhand government wants to ensure development in every sector in order to eradicate the problems of poverty and unemployment. Tourism is one such sector with huge potential. It would prove instrumental in bolstering the state�s economy and making the people more prosperous.�
Das said the government had planned to develop Patrau Dam and the area around it while keeping in mind the natural beauty of the region. He said local people would be linked to employment and self-employment schemes. Tourists coming from all over the world would give a fillip to the state�s economy, he said.
The CM said that Jharkhand had rich natural legacy which should be utilized for the state�s development. He said a tourist circuit was being built by linking Gaya to Itkhori, Rampur, Maluti, Basukinath and Deoghar. He said the tourist spots could be developed to create several lakh job opportunities. He said the Rajrappa temple in Ramgarh is being developed on the lines of Mata Vaishno Devi temple.
The CM further said the government was now focusing on honey production. Women would be provided loan, training and assistance in producing honey.
Also present on the occasion was the Union Minister Jayant Sinha said the first phase of the Patratu project would see beautification of the dam at an expense of Rs 70 crore. He said a 500-bedded hospital would be built in Hazaribagh at an expense of Rs 510 crore. A power plant would be set up by NTPC in Patratu. It would be the biggest power plant of the country, he said.
Earlier, the CM inaugurated adventure sports at Patratu Dam and inspected the Vikas Mela organized on the spot.
Among others present on the occasion included state tourism minister Amar Kumar Bauri, minister Chandra Prakash Choudhary, Development Commissioner Amit Khare and DC of Ramgarh B Rajeshwari.
