Jamshedpur, Aug 10:  Jharkhand’s industrial hub, Jamshedpur, will soon have a state-of-the-art inter-state bus terminal (ISBT) equipped with world-class transport facilities. The project, estimated at Rs145.24 crore, will be built on 13 acres of land near Mango Dimna Chowk, an official said on Sunday.

The Urban Development Minister, Sudivya Kumar, has given in-principle approval for the project, which will be developed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM). The proposal will soon be forwarded for administrative approval. The Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company (JUIDCO) has been tasked with implementing the project, with the design prepared by an agency from Karnataka.

The ISBT complex will feature a five-storey bus terminal building, including two basements and three above-ground floors, along with a separate commercial building having one basement and three floors.

The complex will include 23 bus bays for departures, 50 general parking spaces, dedicated parking for 300 cars and 350 motorcycles, and facilities for bus maintenance. It will also house an office and warehouse for the Water Resources Department, a sewage treatment plant, and other essential infrastructure.

The first floor will feature an air-conditioned waiting hall with seating for 80 passengers, a dormitory with 120 beds for travellers, and a separate 60-bed rest area for drivers. Additional facilities will include a food court, retail shops, a security office, a travel administration office, and modern toilets.

Officials said the design prioritizes convenience, safety, and efficiency, aiming to handle large passenger volumes while offering comfort. “The ISBT will not only improve regional connectivity but also boost Jamshedpur’s image as a modern transport hub,” an official said.

Once completed, the project is expected to significantly enhance inter-state travel facilities in Jharkhand, providing better infrastructure for buses connecting Jharkhand with neighbouring states like West Bengal, Odisha, and Bihar.
