Jamshedpur, Jan 7: Thieves decamped with cash worth Rs 11 lakh from the shop of a jaggery wholesaler at Parsudih Krishi Bazar Samity under Parsudih thana and also stole the DVR attached with the CCTV camera by cutting the wires on Wednesday night.
According to Bhimsen Sharma, the proprietor of Rajesh Bhandar Shop, he was seen some men keeping an eye on his shop from a distance for the last few days while he used to close the shop and they used to also follow him to his residence in Sundernagar. Out of fear from these persons he had kept the last three days money in the cash counter of the shop.
On Thursday he was supposed to deposit the amount in the bank but the thieves stole the amount by breaking open the shutter of the shop on Wednesday night itself. When they came to the shop on Thursday they found the shutter lock broken and cash missing from the counter.
Meanwhile traders are angry at lack of security in the Krishi Utpadhan Bazar Samity as there are only few guards at the premises and demanded the DSP law and order Alok Ranjan for early arrest of the culprits and increasing security at the bazar samity premises. The traders are also contemplating to close down the samity for 48 hours for early arrest of the culprits.
Recently, SDO Nitish Kumar who is also chairperson of the samity, had closed the second gate of the samity to prevent entry of unwanted elements. But still theft has taken place. There have been incidents of thefts at the samity premises earlier too but no effort has been taken to increase security vigil.
