Rottweiler ‘Julie’ wins Obedience Test at Jamshedpur Dog Show

386 canines of 45 breeds participating

 Jamshedpur: The 74th, 75th, and 76th editions of the Dog Show, organized by the Jamshedpur Kennel Club (JKC), kicked off at Archery Ground in JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur on Friday.

 

The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Probal Ghosh, Vice President (Shared Services), Tata Steel, in presence of Ruchi Narendran, on January 5.

Obedience Test was conducted on day 1 of the show wherein the dog obeying its owner’s instructions were tested. The test featured dogs from various breeds which were tested to know their level of companionship and comfort they share with their owners.

Philip Butt from India was present as judge for Obedience Trial.

Dog show witnessed impressive performances, with the first prize in the obedience test awarded to Julie, a Rottweiler from Jamshedpur. Following closely, Dixcy, a Malinois Belgian from Baroda, secured the second position, while Gravy, another Malinois Belgian from West Bengal, clinched the third prize.

 

In the Best in Show category, the Beagle named Showman, owned by Komolika Banerjee from Kolkata, stole the spotlight.

 

Additionally, the Best in Show Labrador title went to Hit Columbia, owned by Chhavi Khan, also from Kolkata. The event showcased the remarkable talents and skills of these canine participants, delighting both owners and spectators alike.

 

 

The event, will continue till January 7 which features the participation of 45 different breeds.

 

As in previous years, this dog show has attracted 386 canines, showcasing a diverse range of breeds. Ruchi Narendra, providing information, said that 45 breeds of dogs are participating in this competition, making it a center of attraction for the city residents.

 

She mentioned that the show commenced on Friday and will continue until Sunday. The event has garnered attention from international judges participating in the Kennel Club-organized dog show. She urged the residents of the city to attend the show and witness how humans and dogs can form unique bonds of friendship.

 

 

Sudipto Sarkar, Honorary Secretary of JKC highlighted the significance of the event and stated that dogs from Jamshedpur have been competing and have won national level awards for the last couple of years.

 

 

The event includes a range of activities such as Benching (medical examination) of exhibits, panel discussions, and prize distributions.

 

The panel of judges for the various categories includes esteemed names such as Philip Butt from India for Obedience Trial, Yana Gavrilova for Russia for the Beagle Specialty and Labrador Specialty Show, and Dr. Pero Bozhinovski from Macedonia, Lynette Brand from Australia, Alexey Belkin from Russia, and Woong Jong Lee from South Korea for the All-Breed Show. Their expertise and experience will contribute to the success of this grand event.
