
Jamshedpur, July 1: Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West started off the Rotary year, which began on July 1, by planting 1100 Teak saplings at Dhanchatani Village which in turn will empower the farmer to earn his livelihood.
30 saplings were planted today and the remaining plantation shall be carried out by the farmer within the next two to three days time, said President of Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West Shweta Chand.
Shweta Chand asked rotary members to promote the greening of the earth and to work towards environmental sustainability.
Additional District Secretary Alakananda Bakshi presented an awareness talk on Polio. She explained as how important it is to give polio drops to children for the first five years. She also enlightened them that how Rotary is working to eradicate polio completely from the world.
On the occasion the club members also distributed around 200 pamphlets making the villagers aware about the ill effects of Polio.
On behalf of the club PP Anjani Sahay donated Rs 10,000 in cash to the farmer Budheshwar Mahato.
President Shweta Chand thanked Dr Amit Mukherjee for his whole hearted support and initiative taken in carrying out this project.
Club Secretary Nibha Mishra, PP Anjani Sahay, Sanjeev, Rakesh Chowdhary, Aklavya, Rajiv Rungta, Shradha, Sapna, Dr Ravinder, Nutan and others were present on the occasion.
