Jamshedpur, July 1: State food and civil supplies minister Saryu Roy convened a meeting with the officials of Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) to discuss issues related to poor power supply in Jamshedpur West assembly constituency.
Addressing the meeting held at Circuit House, Roy said all dilapidated electricity cables should be immediately changed in Mango, Sonari, Kadma and other parts of the constituency. He said all old transformers should be replaced as soon as possible.
Roy said additional electricity poles should be provided for in areas where the distance between two poles is quite large.
Speaking to Voltas officials, Roy said cabling work should be carried out without delay. He was informed that cabling has been done up to 120 km and the remaining 30 km long stretch would be covered by this month end.
Roy sought explanation from the officials concerned regarding frequent power cuts in Mango, Sonari and Kadma. He was told the issue was related to power transmission on which they had little control.
Electricity department officials informed the minister that the power line from Gamharia to Sonari would be disconnected within a month and the entire power supply would be made to Kadma thereafter. Before 15th August, the power sub-station in Sonari would be set up and linked to Gamharia grid. This would solve the power woes in Kadma and Sonari, officials said.
Roy also queried about the present condition of Baliguma power grid. He was told the capacity to transmit power from the main line to Baliguma power grid needs to be enhanced. The officials said one more power station should be built at Dimna Road. They said the power station would soon be built.
