Jamshedpur: Rotary club of Jamshedpur Steel City came forward with a project to train girls who are underprivileged children, and are in need to learn self defense with the upcoming disasters- with the girls who are walking alone in isolated areas and amongst boys who try to bully them on roads or buses or trains.
The 1st batch was started at Madho Singh Memorial Girls Uchch Vidyalaya at on Friday morning. 150 students attended the session.
The training was started by well known Karate coach Nageshwar Rao along with his two trainees Neeraj and Pooja.
President of the club Hetal Adesara inspired the girls to do the course with fun and enthusiasm. The club members Chaitali Sachdev and Raksha Makati also joined in to show them a demo move.
Hetal informed that there will be four weekly sessions every Saturday between 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
The principal Sarita Kumari, along with assistant teacher Rita Jha and teacher Raakhi Jha of the school were thrilled to start the classes and students showed a lot of interest in learning the karate moves.
The self defense class aims to instill a sense of self confidence among the girls of the school. Hetal said that the objective behind the same is to protect themselves during experiences which suddenly occur and instill in them confidence and bravery,
