Rotary Jamshedpur West plants over 700 saplings in Patamda

Jamshedpur, July 2: In an inspiring step toward environmental conservation, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organized a large-scale Tree Plantation Drive starting from 1st of July’25 as part of its green initiative campaign to promote sustainable living and combat climate change.

The phase 1 of the project started at Gobarghusi kundru kocha village in Patamda, where more than 700 saplings of native species like Mango, Guava, Sagwan were planted by enthusiastic volunteers of the club in association with adivasi.org, headed by Rtn Dr Bikrant Tiwary, who generously donated all the saplings and helped in the process of plantation. The second phase of the project will be done at Gobarghusi Kundru Kocha village in Patamda.

The event was inaugurated by Assistant Governor of Zone 5, District 3250, Rtn AG Kusum Thakur, who emphasized the urgent need for ecological restoration and praised the community for coming together for this noble cause. “Planting trees is not just an act of giving back to nature, but an investment in a healthier, more sustainable future,” she stated. The program was attended by the new incoming President of the club, Rtn Ashok Jha along with 30 more members.

Environmental awareness sessions were also held alongside the plantation activity, educating participants about the role of trees in reducing carbon footprint, improving air quality, preventing soil erosion, and supporting biodiversity.

Follow-up care for the saplings will be undertaken by adivasi.org to ensure healthy growth.
