Rotary Jamshedpur embarks on car rally to End Polio

Jamshedpur, Oct. 28: Since launching the Polio Plus program in 1985, Rotary has contributed over US $ 2 billion for polio eradication, and is committed to raising US $ 50 million per year for polio eradication activities. On 24th October, all Rotary District Rotarians organised ‘End Polio Now’ event, which was celebrated by all Rotary clubs around the world.

On the occasion, the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West organized a car rally led by Club President Rotarian Anjani Nidhi, in which the caravan of Rotarians visited the main road to the city with social distancing with the flag of ‘End Polio Now’.  Secretaries Rotarian Alpana Shukla and Rotarian Kamlendu Shukla conducted the event. District Governor Elect Rotarian Pratim Banerjee along with his spouse Suchanda Banerjee also graced the event.

President Anjani Nidhi said that each Rotarian will give at least two hundred in this mission, which is matched by Bill and Milinda Gate Foundation to six hundred rupees. With this six hundred rupees, polio vaccine can be given to twelve children. Only about 3400 rotarians are expected to participate in this campaign in Jharkhand and Bihar.

On the occasion, a special program was organized on a virtual platform by District Governor Rajan Gandotra, which was attended by speakers from India and Australia. On this occasion, the team of Rotarian Alpa Parikh, Rotarian Murali Manohar, Rotarian Sukanya and IFRM also released the song ‘End Polio Now’ , which was highly appreciated by all.
