Rotary Femina’s bone density test benefits 25 persons

Jamshedpur: Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Femina organised a free bone density test on Friday 6th October at Hotel Boulevard. The test was conducted by Dr. A.K. Chaudhary and team from TMH. A special technician with BDM machine was called from Kolkata to perform the test. Dr. Chaudhary briefed about bone density and its importance in our body.

He said that a bone density test determines if a person has osteoporosis-a disorder characterized by bones that are more fragile and more likely to break.

In the past, osteoporosis would be suspected only after one broke a bone. By that time, however, the bones could be quite weak. A bone density test enhances the accuracy of calculating your risk of breaking bones.

A bone density test uses X-rays to measure how many grams of calcium and other bone minerals are packed into a segment of bone. The bones that are most commonly tested are in the spine, hip, foot and sometimes the forearm.

The test was performed on more than 25 persons. The report was then seen by Dr. Chaudhary and proper supplements and other recommendations were given to those needed. Members of Femina along with friends and family participated and took the benefit of the test.

Members of the club present were President Pritha Dutta, Secretary Shashi Gadia, PP Pasam Adesara, Rashmi Singh, Megha Tulsiyan, Neha Agrawal, Jayshree Sinha, Vanisha Sinha, Vandana Sinha and others.
