Jamshedpur, July 21: Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Femina organized a talk at Sakchi High School to make the girls aware of mental and physical abusement on Thursday, July 21.
Addressing the school girls, Simple Agrawal informed the girls about how they can know when they are sexually abused what they can do in such situations. She told that sexual abuse is when a young person is pressurized or tricked into taking part in any kind of young activity with an adult or young person.
Majority of girls never report the abuse because they are afraid of their parents’ reaction or because they don’t know how to tell.
She appealed them to share with family, friends, and teachers and take an action and report against the culprit. She also asked teachers to take an initiative and talk to the girls relating to such matters. Girls were also told about safe and unsafe touch. Good touch is what makes smile and bad touch gives a harmful feeling.
It was an interesting session and useful too as girls started sharing their problems. Initially they were hesitating but slowly it was seen they wanted to share more and more.
They were also told about ways by which they can overcome and avoid such situations. The program was successful with active participation of schools principal, teachers and Femina members.
