Rotary Clubs of Jamshedpur to focus on community welfare projects

Jamshedpur, June 26: Six Rotary Clubs of Jamshedpur jointly held a press conference on Thursday at a hotel in Bistupur to share details of their ongoing and upcoming projects, marking the beginning of the new Rotary year on July 1.

The event was attended by Zone 5 Assistant Governor Kusum Thakur, along with Rotary Club presidents and representatives: Suchismita (Dalma), Animesh Chhapolia (Next Gen), Ashok Jha (West), Ananna Dutta (Green), and Jitesh Chaudhary (Secretary, Steel City).

President Animesh Chhapolia of Rotary Next Gen highlighted their “Water on Wheels” initiative aimed at supplying clean water to slums and hospitals.

Suchismita of Rotary Club of Dalma emphasized their focus on mother and child care, mental health counselling, and providing free healthcare services.

Rotary Green President Ananna Dutta shared updates on supporting TB and HIV-positive patients. Their future plans include adoption drives, sanitation efforts, setting up a milk bank through a global grant, and organizing medical camps and plantation drives.

Captain Anil, President of Rotary Jamshedpur Main, spoke about providing skill training to village youth and adopting Deoghar village, where hockey training will be provided in partnership with NTHA.

Ashok Jha from Rotary West said three villages have been adopted, with a strong focus on education. Plans include health initiatives like anemia and “Kavach” health camps, especially in Patamda.

Jitesh Chaudhary of Steel City Rotary outlined plans for three mega health camps, blood donation drives, and pond revival under their environmental initiatives.

Rotary Clubs will continue to focus on all seven areas of service including health, education, water, environment, and economic development, aiming to bring smiles and build a better society through consistent service.

Rotary’s seven focused areas are the pillars of our community service.

1.Peacebuilding and conflict prevention:
Rotary aims to foster understanding and promote peace through various initiatives, including conflict resolution training, education programs, and support for peace initiatives.
2. Disease prevention and treatment:
Rotary works to improve access to healthcare, raise awareness about disease prevention, and support initiatives that address major health challenges like HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis and polio etc.
3. Water, sanitation, and hygiene:
Rotary provides access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education to improve health and reduce the spread of waterborne diseases.
4. Maternal and child health:
Rotary focuses on improving maternal and child health by providing access to quality healthcare, prenatal care, and skilled birth attendants.
5. Basic education and literacy:
Rotary supports education by providing resources for schools, teacher training, and literacy programs to improve access to quality education.
6. Community economic development:
Rotary empowers communities to create sustainable economic opportunities by supporting entrepreneurship, vocational training, and microfinance initiatives.
7. Supporting the environment:
Rotary works to protect the environment through projects focused on conservation, sustainable resource management, and climate change initiatives.
We are touching all the seven areas and trying to bring smiles on each and everyone’s faces. It may take time to build a happiest society but our continuous involvement in community development has actually no leisure period. Each and every day, Rotaterians are serving the society in their best capacity.
