Jamshedpur: Roshni Jamshedpur today felicitated all the school children who took part in the Nukkad Natak and Essay competition held during the National Blindness Eradication Fortnight Programme today in a simple function held at Motilal Nehru Public School.
Surekha Nerurkar, Patron of Roshni who was the Chief Guest gave away the prizes. Rajnish Kumar, Hony. Secretary, Roshni Jamshedpur & National Executive Committee Member of Eye Bank Association of India made a short presentation to the students assembled from different high schools on Eye Donation and also screened a short film on Eye Donation made by Sri Lankan Eye Ban Association which is the highest donor of eyes in the world.
Chief Guest Surekha Nerurkar appreciated the efforts of Roshni who within a short period of time has now become a household name and she feel proud to be associated when people meet her and promise to donate their eyes.
She suggested that Roshni Jamshedpur should now open a counter properly at any public place preferably where people regularly throng like Bank, Post office, LIC office to come and fill up the pledge form as still she find people are not very computer savvy and miss the opportunity to donate on line.
Ashu Tiwary, Principal and a Executive Committee member who coordinated with the school for the conduct of various activities during the fortnight conducted the prize distribution function. P N Swamy President of Roshni Jamshedpur welcomed the guest while Rajnish Kumar extended the vote of thanks.
Question and answer session were also held to answer tot he query. Tarulata Gandhi, Vice President Sudha Swamy and Parvinder Singh Kapoor, both Assistant Secretary, and Sita Joshi, member, Roshni Jamshedpur also attended the programme.
