Ranchi: A delegation of high-ranking officials of East Central Railway met chief minister in his chamber and held discussions on pending railway projects in the State.
Talks were held on connecting Dumka to Kolkata, Bhagalpur, Patna and Delhi through rail link. Present on the occasion were principal secretary of chief minister, Sanjay Kumar, general manager of East Central Railway Hazipur, AK Mittal and other senior officials.
The chief minister on the occasion drew the attention of the railways to the fact that delay in execution of railway projects has escalated the project cost and the State is not in a position to bear its share of cost as it would pressure on the budget.
Early completion of pending projects would connect Ranchi with other parts of the country which would hugely benefit the railway passengers. He requested the concerned department to see to it that the projects get completed at the earliest.
In another development the chief minister shot off a letter to the railway minister to include Dumka-Rampurhat and Mandar Hill- Dumka rail projects in railway budget of 2015-16.
He also urged the railway minister to open direct rail connectivity from Dumka to Kolkata, Bhagalpur, Patna and Delhi.
