Ranchi: Rival faction has again upped the ante against the State Congress President. The disgruntled faction has put forth its stand against the present party president in Jharkhand before the party leadership in Delhi.
The opponent faction is of the view that the party stands a little chance in State politics as long as Sukhdev Bhagat remains as part state president. Several high-profile leaders of State Congress got disillusioned after committees in several states have been reshuffled but Jharkhand was left out from the process.
Peeved over party leadership’s stance several senior leaders have started putting pressure on the leadership by tendering resignations from their posts.
Altogether 13 party members of the State committee including vice president Gulfam Mujibi, general secretary Manjur Ahmed Ansari, Satya Narayan Singh, Sumitra Paswan, Seema Patra, special invited member Madan Mohan Sharma, secretary Jay Shankar Pathak, Manas Sinha have resigned from their posts. It is being said that those resigned from the State Committee got the tacit support from Rajya Sabha MP Pradip Balmuchu, Deeraj Prasad Sahu, former MP, Dr Rameshwar Oraon, and Furkan Ansari.
On the other hand the State Congress President Sukhdev Bhagat and his supporters have also geared up for a showdown against the opponent faction. Party sources have said that the state party leadership would accept the resignations and reshuffle State Congress Committee soon.
Member of the media-cell and state secretary Lal Kishore Nath Sahdev said that the State Congress would strive to induct common people in the party.
The party is organizing membership drive across the State and received opinions from the grassroots leaders in an effort to strengthen the party base.
Lal Kishore Nath Sahdev opined that those who had resigned from their posts had taken little interest in the party activities. Their resignations would be accepted and energetic workers would be given party responsibilities, he said.
