Ranchi, Oct 29: A crucial review meeting is set to take place on October 30th to evaluate the ongoing operation against Naxalites in the Kolhan forest region. Chaired by the Additional Director General (ADG) Campaign, the meeting will involve the participation of high-ranking officials, including the Inspector General of the CRPF for Jharkhand Sector, DIGs from Ranchi and Kolhan, officers from the Special Task Force (STF), Special Branch officers, and the Superintendent of Police (SP) from Chaibasa.
The primary objective of the meeting is to devise a strategic plan for addressing the challenges and coordinating efforts in the ongoing operation against Naxalites in the Kolhan forest.
Authorities had launched a large-scale operation to root out the CPI Maoist Naxalites, who had maintained a stronghold in the forests of the Kolhan Reserve Forest area in West Singhbhum for an extended period. This operation, initiated on October 10, involves a significant deployment of police and paramilitary forces to dislodge the Naxalites entrenched in the Kolhan forest, spanning various police station areas. This operation is being hailed as the most extensive campaign against Naxalites in the region.
However, it is important to note that the operation in the Kolhan forest area has been ongoing for some time, aimed at gradually dismantling Naxalite camps. Unfortunately, this operation has not been without its share of sacrifices, with both security forces and Naxalites suffering losses, and the local population caught in the crossfire. The upcoming review meeting is expected to assess the progress and challenges of this significant anti-Naxal operation and refine the strategy for further actions.
