Retired MGMCH employee loses Rs 7 lakh to cyber thieves

Jamshedpur: Yet another case of cyber theft worth Rs 7 lakh has come to light in the city. This time, the cyber criminals have made away with the hard earned money of one Rambahoran Das, a retired employee of MGMCH.

Police suspect the unidentified cyber thieves withdrew the huge sum with the help of cloned ATM card. The culprits purchased jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh from Alankar Jewellers on 27th September last. On 27th September last, the culprits withdrew Rs 10,018. Similarly, cash was withdrawn from various locations in Ranchi, Gaya and Kalimata Road, Sakchi.

Police said Das learnt about the fraud when he went to the Sakchi branch of Allahabad Bank with his son Manoj Das to withdraw Rs 80,000. On depositing a cheque, Das came to know that there was not a single penny in his bank account. When he got his account updated, he was shocked to find zero balance, police said.
