Repair work on NH-33 stretch Chandil and Jamshedpur completed

Jamshedpur : The ride on the NH-33 stretch between Chandil and Jamshedpur is much comfortable these days. The NH-33 four-lane agency has completed the repair work of this stretch of NH-33.

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) project director of Ranchi-based Project Implementation Unit (PIU) Awadhesh Kumar has confirmed that the repair work of pothole ridden stretch of NH-33 which had seen several protest from different section last year has been completed.

�As per the orders of state High Court we will be submitting a status report on February 3 at the court on repair work of NH-33 and fortunately the concessionaire of the four-lane work on NH-33 between Ranchi and Mohulia (near Jamshedpur) has completed the repair work well in advance,� the project director said.

The Jharkhand High Court division bench of Justices D.N. Patel and P.P. Bhatt, while hearing a PIL on the poor state of NH-32 filed by one Sudhir Mahto in 2011, had on December 3 last year had set a deadline for the first phase of work, saying that it ought to be completed by March 2014.

Taking note of the protest over poor condition of NH-33 the bench had extended the scope of the PIL to include NH-33 and directed NHAI to submit a work plan for repairing the highway.
