Regional parties should unite against BJP: Dr Ajoy

Jamshedpur: Former MP of Jamshedpur Dr Ajoy Kumar today called on the regional parties of Jharkhand to join hands with the Congress to form a strong and secular alliance against the BJP.

Parties like Congress, JMM and RJD are already running the government and JD-U has recently joined the alliance (UPA). We plan to bring All Jharkhand Students Party (AJSU) and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) on the same platform and form an alliance against the BJP. I am very hopeful of getting positive results in the days to come, said Kumar.

The former MP-cum-JVM leader, who arrived in the city today, said he will be formally joining the Congress Party on 22nd August at the state Congress headquarters in Ranchi.
He also iterated that he was not going to contest the Assembly elections in Jharkhand from anywhere.

AICC general secretary and state in-charge BK Hariprasad and state Congress president Sukhdev Bhagat will be present on the occasion. IPS officer-turned-politician. Kumar will work to forge ties with regional parties across the country against the BJP.

The former MP recently met Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi recently. Earlier, he met party national vice president Rahul Gandhi, Ahmad Patel, BK Hari Prasad and other senior leaders of the party and expressed his desire to join Congress.

Kumar had won the Parliamentary by-election on a JVM ticket at Jamshedpur in the year 2011, but he faced defeat in the Lok Sabha elections this year in the hands of BJP candidate and his nearest rival Vidyut Varan Mahato.

Kumar seems to re-invent himself every ten years. In 1986, at the age of 24, he graduated with an MBBS from the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medicine and Research (JIPMER) in Puducherry. He spent more than six years studying sciences to become a doctor.

But then, instead of practising or studying medicine, he took the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam to become an IPS officer. Later, he resigned from IPS and joined corporate world and then joined politics.
