Jamshedpur: Raid Abhiyan, an anti-polythene campaign was launched in the city on Friday under the aegis of 93.5 Red FM, Jamshedpur. A team from Red FM caught several shop owners and vendors red-handed while giving polythene bags to customers across the city. The team members informed the shopkeepers about the environmental hazards caused by using polythene bags. Cloth bags were also distributed among the shopkeepers.
The team visited Kadma, Sonari, Sakchi, Parsudih, Jugsalai, Adityapur and Bistupur and appealed to people to abstain from using the banned plastic bags. Kumar Nishant of Red FM, Jamshedpur, said the awareness programme had started on Monday last. During the five day long campaigning, people were made aware of the health and environmental hazards of polythene bags.
Praising the Red FM team, ADM Law and Order Subodh Kumar said they had carried out their social responsibility by spreading public awareness on an important issue. He said all members of society should participate in such activities.
The radio jockeys present during the campaign included Smita, Raj, Abhay and Mohan.
